Happiness and joy are often used interchangeably, but they have distinct differences in their meaning and experience. Happiness is a state of well-being characterized by positive emotions and a sense of contentment with life. It is often associated with our self-identity and emotional well-being. Joy, on the other hand, is a more fleeting and more intense emotion that is often described as a perception of elation, delight, or bliss. Joy often arises with the satisfaction of achieving certain goals and evaporates until we reach another milestone. Simply put, happiness is an enduring state of fulfillment, while joy is a temporary feeling of enjoyment.
